Late to the party but loved this post especially these lines:-
“The right-wing influencers named in Grok’s fake news list responded with the sincerity of men filing defamation cases against bathroom graffiti”
“We are oddly serious about how we are seen by outsiders. We either bask in praise or launch full-blown counterattacks. There is rarely anything in between.”
Grok’s edgier style also makes one weirdly comfortable in opening up to it and asking political questions. I wonder if in time there will be a premium offering divulging what kind of questions people are asking in private.
The insight from the second last paragraph is important. Yanis Varofakis mentioned something similar. One of the key reasons Elon bhaiyya acquired twitter was because he missed out on ‘cloud capitalism’ in spite of other achievements. Right now these LLM chatbots appear to be helpful and benevolent but the landscape is in a very early stage. That’s why open source models like Llama and Deepseek are all the more important.
The funniest thing about Grok issue was that it was a bait and switch (unintentionally). Grok and Musk have positioned themselves as the saviors against western liberalism/anti-woke etc., which the right-wing conservative groups in India readily lapped up as pro-them. So not only was Grok just an AI that's supposed to carry more weight than the 'fake news' western publications but it was supposed to be anti-woke and not espouse the talking points of the 'left'. So all in all, it was funny to see the bullet come from the wrong end of the gun for those looking to weaponize any and all information.
This is by far thr most boring writeup from you. Very non-AMV kind of post. Forced humour. Lacking criticality. Inability to go beyond just a journalistic post- mere chronical of the events. Sigh.
I love you AMV; In fact we love you. It's just I felt that way while reading it. To check my bias, I read it twice. Keep writing. Sorry for sounding rude. Regretted.

“like watching a lion slip on a banana peel.”
