Axis Bank app also has a yearly rewind now. The first 2 slides are how much you invested and your transactions. And the next 3 slides are quizzes on how Axis Bank did in terms of deposits made, mutual funds bought, etc. Basically it made the year mainly about itself 😂
I read something similar in a book called searches ( by vauhini vara ) - she said she could map out the stages of her life, through archived google searches. It's insane how much of our person, our actual lived lives are online ! Loved this piece. And it was ironic how I wanted to post it on my story so I could remember it later !
Great read as usual Anurag. I think the over consumption of content leads to this amnesia. I loved this line from you - "Memory is not linear, but we keep forcing linearity onto it."
Wish you a very happy end to this year and a wonderful 2026!
That was sobering. In today’s hyper-digital age, biological memory feels increasingly like the appendix—an evolutionary relic, seemingly dispensable and perhaps even removable.
Reading this in February. I've been avoiding year end wrap ups for this very reason "When memory is stored outside the body, experience begins to feel second hand." This thought succinctly sums it up. You think very well. You are certainly not wasting your time if such thoughts occur and you hold them long enough to write them down.
I am not entitled to the joy of seeing my Spotify wrapped since I pirate all the music I listen regularly. And I'm hoping that someone uploads a pdf version of Anurag's book so that I can pirate it too .
'I am a very interesting person online' read this on a tshirt today

Oh god! *facepalm emoji*
Lol, I initially thought they'd tell me my "spending age" so I got interested

Haha. Thank you. I'll check out the book by Vara.
My society use an app called 'ADDA' , it's similar to mygate , even that app showed me a popup of yearly wrap which was truly bizzare tbh 😂

Hi Anurag. Read your book a week back. One of my best 2025 reads. Thanks for this piece.
Thanks you so much.
Very lyrical. One of the best pieces I have read on substack this year. Thanks
Thank you so much.
